The Science of Resonance: Your Authentic Crystalline Experience

Jan 10, 2019

Have you gone to a crystal store and had the shop owner or crystal healer recommend a specific crystal for a specific use, only to later check in a crystal book and see that it has different recommended uses? On top of that, if you check several books, you will find even more meanings and uses for a single stone. Plus, for each teacher, the crystals have a different meaning and use.

For me, this tendency to assign purpose and/or meaning based on the crystals creates mixed feelings or contradictory ideas about crystals—and, I think, is one of the reasons that, in some circles, they lack credibility. You may wonder why there are different meanings for a single stone. The answer is the authentic experience that each of the people assigning the meaning had with that stone. Working with stones myself, seeing clients, and doing workshops, I have seen how each person has had a different experience with the same crystal. This is because the purpose and meaning comes from the user—you.

Before we get more deeply into that, it’s important to note that true crystal connoisseurs are few. Reading a crystal book or taking a crystal course does not necessarily make you an expert in crystals. In addition, some crystal sellers disclose false ideas about crystals with the primary intent of selling. Thirdly, much of the information we receive about crystals is prescriptive. Someone who works with crystals will recommend that you use a rose quartz to heal your relationships, a citrine to heal your fears, and so on and so forth. Crystal prescriptions lack the backing of real science; they rely on intuition. And what is intuition really? Authentic information unique to the person who had the crystal experience.

We must keep in mind that most authors and teachers who work with crystals are writing or teaching based on their own experiences with crystals. In my twenty years of experience working with crystals, I have learned that our individual experiences with crystals are unique and nontransferable. What serves me does not necessarily have to serve another person. Because I was raised in a certain way, I had certain experiences that shaped me and my beliefs. The same goes for each person. It is impossible to recommend crystals based on personal experiences with them because our experiences are different and not objective; they are contaminated by our previous life experiences and what we learned from others. A person who has had a life of suffering will not have the same experience with a crystal as a person who has had everything come to him or her more easily, a person from Asia will not have the same experience as one from South America, and on and on. Each of our mental programs are different, and so too are each of our experiences. We are not reading the information we receive objectively, because it passes through all the filters of our worldview or experiences learned from others—through the filters of the mind. The same happens when we receive others people’s information.

So, what is the best way to approach crystals and know them better?

The answer is at once simple and profound—by experiencing your energy. Allow your energy to interact with the crystal you are working with without the filters of the mind. Have an experience that is authentically yours with the energy of the crystal.

This, in science, is called resonance.

One of the most important contributions of the twentieth century was the recognition that everything, without exception, at the subatomic level, is energy. We live in an energetic world of invisible vibrations and electromagnetic fields. We, and the crystals too, as well as the thoughts in our minds, are energy.

Because everything is energy, our energy fields can be attracted to others whose information is similar. A crystal resonates with us because it is being attracted by our vibration. That, in energetic language, can be our thoughts or our physical body.

Therefore, the best way to work with crystals is to focus our attention inward toward ourselves; to breathe deeply three times; and, from our inner silence, to gaze at the first crystal toward which we feel attracted to begin our work with it.

Now you know how to choose a crystal. Don’t let others tell you which crystal to work with. Work with the crystal that feels most authentic for you.
