Help Birth a New Humanity: Become Holistically You!

Boundaries are illusions, products not of reality but of the way we map and edit reality.” —Ken Wilber

Some 7.8 billion people inhabit our planet. And by the time you read these lines, there will be more. Six continents, 192 countries, and around 50,000 cities and 2.5 million small towns and villages comprise this word—each divided subsequently into different communities, such as families, religions, cultures, genders, and political inclinations, who share common activities and so on. That’s 7.8 billion people—each shaped not only by her or his unique perspectives, experiences, and emotions but also by the groups and subgroups she or he aligns with. All of these divisions are reflected inside each and every part. Did you know that, every time you respond to your familiar reality by recreating the same mindset of the different tribes you belong to, you’re “hardwiring” your brain to match the customary conditions in your personal reality and coding your energy to resonate only with these conditions and to avoid resonating with different ones? No wonder we’re so divided. With so many divisions and different perspectives, how can we find a meeting point? How can we find what we all have in common? We do, indeed, have something in common—and that is energy!

With so many divisions and different perspectives, how can we find a meeting point? How can we find what we all have in common? We do, indeed, have something in common—and that is energy!

Today, the world seems smaller thanks to our electronic devices, and virtually the entire world is available to us at our fingertips thanks to invisible electromagnetic waves or energy. Energy has helped us transcend our divided parts. Energy waves in cyberspace are helping us to leave behind the limited vision of human beings as separated from others and giving rise to a more integrated and global vision of the world. Through different waves and frequencies, we—the different voices and parts of the world—can express ourselves from any place and be heard globally. And change can navigate these virtual channels, spreading through them like a wave—just as we’ve all witnessed happening in recent events.

In the same way, energy can help transition the world from a divisive and separated place to a world that is connected and whole.

Aware or not, each of us is what we think. Everything you’ve viewed, heard, and sensed; accepted without question; experienced; learned to believe; and internalized has become the perceptual lens through which you filter your worldview and the information you receive and that disconnects you from the whole. This disconnection may be reflected in answers to the question, “Who am I?” I am a mother. I’m Catholic. I’m Latino. I’m divorced. I’m unemployed. Yes, and we are much more than the limited parts we have learned to identify with.

We’ve learned to identify with what divides us, instead of what connects us. But in connecting with the whole lies the key to our individual and collective well-being. Connecting the parts is where our focus as leaders should be.

Ancients knew a long time ago that, for the universe to be in balance, all the parts must be interconnected. According to them, perceiving ourselves as separated is the baseline or real origin of all individual and collective conflicts and imbalances in the world.

Without exception, we are all equally important parts of the whole. We, as parts, need to perceive ourselves again as interconnected and, together, find our way back to the whole.

Here’s where energy plays an important role. In truth, 99.9999999 percent of our reality is energy. Although our naked eyes can’t perceive this, each and every one of us is literally borderless, transparent energy. What we define as our solid body and our surrounding reality is really energy.

Without exception, in the energy world, we’re already interconnected. Separation is an illusion created by the mind.

What we resonate with inside us creates an energy signature. If we resonate with parts, we attract limited perspectives and solutions—these may include imbalances in our life, such as illness, unemployment, problems in our relationships, and all forms of separation. The more we resonate with the whole, the more we will be able to add possibilities to our lives, which may include health, wealth, lasting love, inclusivity, and so on. Resonating with wholeness is about recalibrating the patterns in your energy system to match the energy patterns of the whole.

Expert master of Zen and Buddhist philosophy D. T. Suzuki refers to the “cosmic unconscious” as the deeper dimension beyond the psychological unconscious, where one can experience wisdom beyond rational discourse. According to him, the unconscious is a bottomless abyss, and when you’re able to access the deeper layers, you can transcend what binds you.

Other authors, when referring to the unconscious, also speak of its complexity and levels of depth. I like to compare the unconscious to an onion and its many layers. Take as a starting point the fact that we’re all human beings. Any additional information we receive from there is learned—giving form to the different onion layers. Each unconscious layer we learn from our divided surrounding world separates us from our holistic being.

Know that every time you reject something or someone, there’s a mismatch between the outside information and that inside, and you’re disconnected from the whole. That’s why it’s so important to recalibrate ourselves holistically, working directly with energy.

The beauty of all this is that we can choose to change these patterns consciously and prevent them from repeating themselves in our life if we work directly with the whole—with energy. Holistic tools are precisely those that work directly with energy to reconnect us with the deeper parts of ourselves and with undivided unconscious.

Working with energy, you can mobilize the paradigm of victim, transforming it to that of cocreator of our shared reality. In the cocreator paradigm, we’re each responsible for all we manifest in our lives.

Now do you understand the importance of persistence in your inner work? Not only will it help you stop resonating with the limited parts that keep you from living a fulfilled life and help keep others who you inspire from doing the same, but it will also enable you (individually) and those around you (collectively) to make a better world for each and every one of us.

Yes, it’s essential to bring our attention not only to the physical universe, which represents only 0.0000001 percent of our reality, but also to the intangible energy that supports our individual and collective wholeness and well-being. Awareness of this is central, as is our potential to add a new conversation to the world and create a better reality for all of us.

Inclusivity or wholeness consciousness is when we can perceive and experience ourselves as an undivided whole—as energy.

We recognize that we’re living in wholeness when we live continually in balance, not hopping from one extreme emotion to the other. We recognize wholeness when we’re aware and not responding on autopilot; when we lose interest in judging or criticizing others; and when we let go of fighting with life and, instead, flow. We recognize it when we’re integrating, instead of comparing and dividing and when we feel a deep respect for life and every being on the planet.

In the same way, if our world were run by wholeness, it would promote practices—such as teamwork instead of competition—that reinforce our bonds and connections individually and collectively throughout our different communities. Parents would have the responsibility of self-evaluating on a regular basis in order to educate their children without passing on any separation patterns. Consensus, consent for the welfare of all, and other such practices would be priorities.

We all perceive our realities from our different perceptions or points of view. Only very few awakened people have experienced what living in wholeness really means. That’s why, for many, the ultimate reality we all aspire to live might be beyond our comprehension and cannot be achieved without conscious inner work. Focusing on the undivided whole (rather than on our individual interests) should be our main priority as leaders. The idea is to replace your existing model with that of your undivided wholeness. It’s important to become aware of this priority and make the changes necessary in order to heal and transform your inner model of separation into one of connection and to inspire others to do the same.

In the words of Nelson Mandela, “No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”

The world will reflect what we as human beings are resonating with. Thus, if we, as parts of the whole, don’t make conscious changes to resonate with the whole—the world will remain divided. We should ask ourselves daily: What do I need to change in myself to perceive myself holistically? And every day, we should make decisions that will get us there. I’ve helped leaders around the world for more than 20 years transform their inner divisions and become more holistic. And I can do the same for you—so that, together, we can help birth a holistic humanity. Be part of the change! The world needs you!
